The kitchen and dining room furniture

It seems that decorating an apartment is the easiest thing on Earth – we simply choose what we like. However, in reality the apartment decoration is often dependent on the arrangement and the size of rooms. Especially the furniture for the kitchen and the dining room should be functional and adjusted to our apartment. The size of the room is usually the main factor here. Do you know what kind of furniture fits your kitchen?

A big kitchen – a big table

A table is the heart of a kitchen no matter if we decorate it traditionally or in a modern style. It is worth to designate a separate place for eating in a big kitchen. It is not necessary, however, to put the door between the kitchen and a dining room. These two parts may be separated with a low wall, a passage curtained with strings of colorful beads also looks interesting. In case of a typical open kitchen separating the kitchen from the dining area may be done by using different colors of walls.

A table should be placed in a way that doesn’t interrupt moving. Every person sitting by the table should occupy about 60 cm of its surface. The size of the table should be matched to the number of household members. By the big table we can sit on chairs (original one’s – for instance the Orion chair, or traditional one’s like the Oregano chair) as well as stools. Big benches which have enough room for a bigger number of people are a great idea too.

A narrow kitchen – a single table top

Decorating of a narrow kitchen should be carefully planned. To avoid overwhelming the kitchen with too many pieces of furniture it is worth to decide to one-side construction, and rest a table top on the other side. That kind of piece of furniture doesn’t take much space, two people at once may eat there a meal. A rectangular light table top will seem to be smaller and will “lighten” the kitchen. Instead of heavy chairs we should choose in this case stools, or high bar stools (hokers– for instance a model Coba or Kis).

A small kitchen – a folding table

In a small kitchen every meter counts. When we don’t want to entirely give up the idea of the table we can decide on a folding version. Additionally some folding tables are equipped in shelves and drawers which saves even more space. Folding tables occur in different shapes (rectangle, triangle). Before buying we should pay attention to stability and comfort of folding the piece of furniture. We have to remember that this kind of tables cannot be too deep (they take place) but they have to be comfortable at the same time.

A dinning annex – a bar

When there is no place for a table – let’s decide for a mini bar, which at the same time can separate the annex from the living room. The minimal width of the mini bar which will provide comfort while eating is 50 cm. The mini bar may be the extension of the table top or, when we put it a little higher, a separate place only for eating meals. When we decide on a mini bar it is best to put hokers on one side of it only. With a table top 110 cm high stools should be about 80cm. With a lower table top (90cm) stools 60cm high will be enough.
